Rancho Santa Fe

Rancho Santa Fe is a picturesque community located in San Diego County, California. Known for its rolling hills, beautiful homes, and horse country, this affluent community has been called “the Beverly Hills of San Diego.” The area is dotted with sprawling estates, gorgeous golf courses, and pristine parks, making it a haven for those seeking an exclusive lifestyle.

History

The history of Rancho Santa Fe dates back to the 1920s, when it was founded as a planned community by a group of investors led by the entrepreneur and philanthropist, Max C. Fleischmann. The group purchased the 8,800-acre property, which had previously been a Mexican land grant, and set about developing it as an exclusive residential enclave. The developers worked with the landscape architect, Lilian Rice, to design the community’s layout, which incorporated Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and a network of winding roads and footpaths.

Rancho Santa Fe was officially incorporated in 1927, and by the 1930s, it had become a popular destination for wealthy individuals seeking a luxurious and secluded lifestyle. During World War II, the community played an important role in the war effort, with many of its residents serving in the military and participating in defense projects. Next article.

Today, Rancho Santa Fe remains a highly desirable place to live, with a population of around 3,000 residents.
