Balboa Park is a world-class urban park in downtown San Diego. It features 17 museums and other cultural landmarks. It is located at San Diego, CA. The park is located on 1,200 acres. Originally named for Spanish explorer Vasco Nunez de Balboa, the park was constructed in 1915 for the Panama-California Exposition.
The park offers a variety of things to do, including tours, a world-class zoo, golf, and a variety of special events. In addition, it is home to the world’s largest outdoor pipe organ, the Spreckels Organ Pavilion. This pavilion also offers free music on Sundays.
Visitors can also see the Star of India, the oldest active sailing ship in the world. This vessel has sailed the globe 27 times. Other ships in the museum include a luxury yacht from Scotland and a ferryboat from 1898. Also, visitors can take a tour of the Fleet Science Center, an interactive science museum.
