MCRD San Diego Command Museum

The MCRD San Diego Command Museum is located at 1600 Henderson Ave BUILDING 26, San Diego, CA 92140. Visitors can expect to spend at least two hours touring the museum’s galleries. There are also several historical artifacts on display. These include Navajo Code Talkers and pictures of wars fought by the Marines. Aside from the museum, the MCRD San Diego Command Depot is also home to a Drill Instructor’s School for the Western Recruiting Region, the Maritime Safety and Security Team and the Pacific Area Tactical Law Enforcement Team. Each year, about 20,000 recruits are trained at the MCRD San Diego. Many of these recruits will return to the depot for graduation.

During recruiting season, many visitors make a stop at the MCRD San Diego Command Museum. There, they can see the uniforms and equipment used by the Marines. Visitors can also view a collection of photographs and historical artifacts, focusing on the trials of the Marines during wartime. For the past 100 years, the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego has been training recruits from throughout the west. Since its opening in 1921, the facility has trained more than 2 million men. The facility is based adjacent to the San Diego International Airport.

The MCRD San Diego Command Depot has been featured in several TV shows. For example, the black and white silent film Tell It to the Marines is partially filmed at the MCRD San Diego. Another popular movie was Top Gun, which was filmed at the Flying Leathernecks Aviation Museum.
